Rooms That Are Too Yang
If you play loud music all day long and your room is fitted with bright red furnishings and the walls are painted bright red or bright yellow, the energies are too Yang. There is too much noise and too much energy, so you would be well advised to introduce some Yin features to counter this imbalance. Observe some periods of silence during the day. Change your drapes to a darker Yin color or even install a blue light.
Similarly, if your home receives direct afternoon sun, the room is too Yang. Counter this by hanging some heavier drapes that cut out the glare of the sun. Or hang a faceted crystal that transforms the hostile sunlight into the bright colors of the rainbow, bringing in friendly Yang energy rather than killing Yang energy.
Observe that creating a balance of Yin and Yang in your home is an extremely subtle exercise.
Essentially, a room should have elements of Yin and Yang, but never too much of one or the other. Have music and life in the room, but not all the time. Have peace and quiet in the room, but not to the extent that it becomes lifeless. Have a cool décor of blues and grays, but also incorporate a splash of Yang color which may be represented by a vase of red roses or a painting of a sunrise.
Black and white color schemes are symbolic of Yin and Yang harmony, but there should also be sounds and life. A completely black and white décor that is always silent is regarded as much too Yin in the same way that if there is too much noise, it is regarded as too Yang.
Remember that Feng Shui is a subtle blend of opposite energies that complement each other. What you should always strive for is the harmony of opposites. This is the fundamental guiding principle of Yin and Yang.
